The LONGest Month

I finally set some time aside to scrap some pages. I am working on my 2008 album and am all the way up to February. I plan to be caught up by at least 2015… LOL! I always assumed that when I retired, I would have time to do whatever I want. Wow!!! Don’t know how I found time to work for all those years.

The first picture is a statement of how I feel about the month of February! I find it to be the LONGest month due to the weather we have in Michigan. I get “houseitosis (my word for closed in feeling)” for the entire month. I’m certainly glad there are less days in this month. I love March and April (my favorite months of the year and figure my anticipation of those months coming is why February seems sooooooo LONG.

For this layout I used my Pazzles and the Amienne font to create the words. I then used the Cricut and the Accent Essentials cartridge to cut the Snowflakes. I ran the Snowflakes through my Xyron and used sprinkled glitter on them to match the paper. The paper is from the DCWV Christmas stack.

Happy Birthday Daisy Mae

The second layout I worked on for February is of our little dog Daisy Mae. Now, you have to understand… she is one spoiled dog so I tend to take tons of pics of her. These were taken before the rusty eye look was taken care of using Angel Eyes. She loves Bully Bones and for her birthday she got a bunch of them. She also got some stuffed toys. We over spoil this dog and have paid for it as she is thinks she is Queen of the house now.

Page 1 of the layout is of Daisy sitting under a stool my Grandmother gave me. She thinks of it as her dog house and tends to hide her bones and toys under it. The second pic is of her indicating she does not want me taking any more pics of her and just wants to sleep. Good thing I can’t understand her growl that she does every time I get the camera out. I do think she is swearing at me in her own language. The second page is pics of Daisy and my hubby with her Bully bone.

I used paper that I bought at JoAnn’s and my Pazzles to create the cut files. The concept of the Daisy Dog came from one of Arts 4 Crafts files... http://www.art4crafts.com/. I did ask permission to use her files to create paper piecing and she said OK. I drew the design as vector pieces in Paint Shop Pro and altered to look like a Bichon. I then chalked the dog cuts. The font used was Impressed BT Regular.

Christmas Cards

I've making some Christmas cards for friends and family. All of the pieced files were designed and drawn by me using my Pazzles Inspiration machine. I LOVE my Pazzles!!! Below are 4 pictures of cards I made yesterday. The paper used for the background was from the DCWV Christmas stack.

The first one is a Deer Journal tag that I stamped and used a glitter gel pen to enhance. I got a little carried away using my stickles glitter on the bird and antlers. Learning as I go.


The next one is my favorite as I love bears. I used Diamond Dust on the fur of the hat and stickles on the words, leaves and berries. The lights I found at Hobby Lobby in the Christmas section. The font used was Brush Script.


The next two are using a snowman that I think is so cute and happy looking. I tried a couple of different effects for the snow. For the first one I used glitter and basically painted it on. The font used was Abracadabra.

For this one I used Delta's Decorative Snow and painted it on. Not sure that I like either one... but, the decorative snow looks more textured.

Winter Wonder What !?!

I’ve had some time lately to finally get some actual scrapping finished. I am trying to get my 2008 album finished. As you can tell by the date, I’m pretty far behind. People are always saying about Michigan weather… “If you don’t like it today, stick around – it will change”. The following layout shows exactly how much it can change in 5 days here in January… ya just never know.

The first picture was taken of my husband snowblowing our drive on January 2nd, 2008. It is a simple layout, but I thought the pictures spoke for themselves. I used the Stencil font with my Pazzles and cut on full 12 x 12 sheet as a negative cut and the snowflakes were created using the Flakey font.

The second page of the layout was taken on January 7, 2008 and the temp was 70 degrees. You can see my husband raking leaves in our front yard. The leaves were designed by me on my Pazzles.

Happy Sunday...

It has been a very busy week around here this week so have not had much time to design or create anything - I'm having withdrawals big-time! My hubby's mom has been in the hospital for a week now and hopes to be released tomorrow. She is 80 and is one of the kindest, sweetest people I have ever met and I'm so very happy that she is doing so well and will be home with Ron's dad soon. I have been truly blessed to have such wonderful in-laws.

As our grandchildren (Erica & Jake) are too old (almost 13 & 16) to want to be with grandma and poppy on Halloween, we dressed up our dog (Daisy Mae) and went trick-or-treating to the neighbors. We all had a great time. Daisy is a 10.5 lb. Bichon Frise and is just the sweetest little girl. Here is a picture of our little gal all dressed up as a Fairy. Happy Day!!!
