Accordion Fold Christmas Card

Someone from the Cricut Message Board posted a link to directions for doing an accordion type card. I loved the concept so decided to use my new Christmas Solutions cartridge and create the card. Here is a link for the directions.

Here is an side view of the card. The card is 5 inches wide; therefore, the cuts are small. This one fits in an envelope that I had on hand that is 4.25 x 5.50.

Cut File - Pop-up Christmas Card

It is again cold today and has been raining all day. I have been working on creating my Christmas cards. Below you will find pictures of my Popup Christmas card and envelope. I was inspired to try designing this card by Susan Blue Robot (her blog link is down of this page) from the Cricut Board. I designed the card using the Cricut Design Studio and below you will find the picture of the cut file. You will also find the cut file using George, Jasmine and Accent Essentials and the one using Plantin Schoolbook, Jasmine and Accent Essentials. I used the Christmas DCWV Glitter stack to create the card.

Here is the Front of the card. I cut 4 snow flakes and layered them with pop-dots. The card measures 3 x 7.75 closed.

Here is a side view of the front of the card. I wish the white core did not show through the DCWV paper when you score and fold it... but, I love this paper so decided it would be OK for this one.

Pazzles or Cricut Expression...

I have been asked today in a comment left on my blog which machine I prefer... the Cricut Expression or the Pazzles. I love them both equally. I know that is not a fair statement as you probably think I would like one over the other. To me, the machines are totally different in how they can be used.

The Cricut is cartridge based and while you can design with Design Studio, it is... and probably always will be... a cartridge based system. I have over 40 cartridges that can be used with the Cricut. The cuts are all designed by Provo Craft and I love the simplicity of using the Cricut by just popping in a cartridge, selecting the object to be cut, and cutting files to use to make a quick card or layout.

The Pazzles allows me to create (draw) my own designs in a vector type format. I love designing my own projects and being able to use any font that is available. The free font and dingbat files that are available all over the internet makes it really easy to create unique titles and cuts.  It is also very easy to import clipart and have the program trace the image to allow cutting.  I love the versitility of the machine.

I would not give up either machine at this point as I use them both differently and for different reasons. If I were looking to buy one and not interested in designing my own files, I would certainly go with the Cricut. One thing to consider is that cartridges can get expensive. If others have an opinion, please post it here so others can get different points of views on both machines. Happy Day!!!!

It's cold today...

Hi. It is so cold here in Michigan today that I thought it would be a good time to cut some of the Pazzles Inspiration WPC Designs I have created. I have created over 180 designs so far and hope to sell them on CD's once I cut and test all of the cuts. I have had a couple of friends tell me that they have a hard time finding cute Thanksgiving items for scrapping so I created this little Pilgrim boy and girl. I thought turned out really cute. It has a lot of cuts but actually went together pretty easy. This one was cut at less than 4 inches in height. Thanks for looking.

Pazzles WPC File - Look of Love

I decided to post two WPC files to try help someone from the Pazzles Inspiration Yahoo Group. She is in need of some Pazzles layouts. Hope these help.

I created this layout for my 2007 album for pictures of me and my hubby. The font used for words is Action Is JL and the hearts were made using the heart shape in the Pazzles program. I seldom use patterned paper as I can never seem to figure out how to use it. I was pleased with how this one turned out.

Pazzles WPC File - For Better or Worse

I created this layout using my Pazzles Inspiration machine in celebration of my in-laws 60th Wedding Anniversary. I used the font Tango BT and the Convert Text to Path feature in the Pazzles program. I changed the words in the cut file to be able to be more generic (note the picture of the WPC file below).

Pazzles WPC File - ATC Base Cut Files

I have participated in a couple of Artist Trading Card swaps recently and in doing so have created a WPC cut file to be used for the base cuts for the ATC cards. I have been in a couple of swaps for Artist Trading Cards for scrapbooking and have created the following design as a Design Studio file to assist in the creation of the ATC's. Here is a picture one of my ATC cards that I used for the first swap. The card was created using Design Studio and the Home Accents cartridge. DS Cut File - Wallet Card

I made this card this my daddy for Father's Day. Sadly, I lost my daddy on September 22. Daddy used to love to come over and see what my latest projects were. As I post this cut files through tears, I know daddy would be happy that I shared with you.

I always seem to have a hard time finding masculine cards and I thought this one could be used for graduation, birthdays, etc. I used Design Studio to create the Cut file. To make the card I used brown DCWV 12 x 12 cardstock, Score-Pal to score the card for folding, Cuttlebug and Tiny Mosiac folder to emboss, inked and then glued together. The file has been created to work on 6 x 12 mat with individual cuts and added a full page of cuts using George 12 x 12 and Plantin 12 x 12.

DS Cut File - Exploding Box - George & PS

Pazzles WPC File - Beach Word Book

DS Cute File - Surprise Word Book

The next one is a Surprise Word Book. I came up with the idea due to my Granddaughter turning 16 next month and her parents have gotten her a car (the gave the car to her early). I thought it would be cute to add a picture of a part of the car on each page and on the last page include a picture of the complete car along with the keys.

DS Cut File - Music Word Book

This one is a Music Book created using Indie Art, Tear Drop and George. I added holes to the book for those that use rings or ribbon to put the books together. They holes can be easily removed by clicking on them and then clicking the delete button.

Pazzles WPC File - Just Skating By Card

Our good friends have left for Florida and will be there until March... boohoo!!! I made this card to send to them as a reminder of all they are going to miss in Michigan while they are gone. I designed and created this card today using my Pazzles Inspiration. The card is 4 x 5.5 finished and the font used is Brush Script. DS Cut File - Scalloped Circle Card

This is a card I made for my Mother-in-law and at the time I made it I used Mini-Monograms for the scalloped circles. I used the Swiss Dots CuttleBug folder and scissors to cut to the center of the circle and stacked. At the time, some folks from the Cricut Board asked if I would cut and mail them some of the circle files. I did without hesitation; but, last night I decided to make them in both George and Plantin Schoolbook so folks could cut their own when needed. Here is the picture of the card.

Beginning of 2008 Album

I have Been busy getting started on my 2008 album. I finally finished my 2007 album (89 pages). This layout one is my cover page to my 2008 album. I used my Pazzles to cut the 2008 and flower pictures from my garden.

Considering that I did not start scrapbooking until January of 2008, I guess I'm not too far behind - if you don't count the thousands of pictures from prior years. I do hope to finish the 2008 album before 2009 begins.

Daisy's Cool Boots

I love the pictures of Daisy in her winter clothes. She hated the boots so once the pictures were taken, she never wore again. I used my Pazzles Inspiration to draw and cut the picture of Daisy.

She's Fearless but not tough...

This layout was of our dog Daisy. She had scratched her eye while outside and ended up with an infecion. Of course, I had to take a picture of her for a layout. I used my Cricut Expression and the Graphically Speaking Cartridge.
